The primary sound design that I did for Sarasa was 4 different variations of particle loops: water-based, leaf-based, glass-based, and rock-based. I tried to base them from natural materials to preserve the peaceful associations we have with each material.

I recorded samples for all these files. I took a trip to a beautiful forest riverbank in New Hampshire (pictures here) for most of these sounds. This gave me enough sounds to build out from my initial glass-based concept into different, natural sounds.

I did a little bit of Foley work for some of these as well. I found that dragging my foot along gravel, as well as through grass and leaves, produced a smooth, flowing sound that I could work with to create a particle flow.
